Sheila,

You are so correct. It is a big concern for our ministry and we are trying to address it.

However, as shameful as it is for a man to admidt he has no control over p0rn and s8xual sin, it is even more shameful for a woman to step forward and admit her struggle. Imagine how “less comforting” a close female friend would be if she felt her husband or boyfriend might be targeted. Or the Clergyman who may be winning the battle over lust until temptation walks in the door and sits in front of him as a female sex addict.

Ministries like our is trying to be as open as possible. The church is not entirely at fault and I have seen the church become more open about our minsistry over the past few years.

I suggest that for the woman (or man) who struggles to not fight it alone, but surrender the battle and join a support group. http://WWW.SA.org is one of many that have resources. Our ministry can be of help as well and there are other groups starting everyday.

I have to agree that pornography devours your mind and thoughts. I do think that you briefly mentioned women, but often the church doesn’t talk about this as a woman’s addiction. It was certainly mine. I also had to deal with the thoughts and scenes I had replayed over and over in my mind after I stopped looking at pornography. I asked God to help me replace those images every time they came…And HE did! It took practice and patience and prayer and scripture, but those thoughts can be replaced. Don’t fret if you don’t change immediately. Thanks for writing this and may the church of God continue to address this issue.

Great post!

I tell parents and clergy in my seminars that “the base minimum” is OpenDNS (or its equivalent) to filter the entire home network at the router. There is a FREE VERSION (I like FREE!) and this helps close “run-a-rounds” with WiFi devices and game systems.

Pure Life/Pure Desire groups can also be helpful for those “addicted” to porn (I.e., who have lost jobs, relationships, etc., and seem unable to quit on their own). A good internet filter is Fox Filter for Mozilla Firefox, which allows one to block by keyword instead of specific websites only.

I still have a some love songs, and how they make me feel is what matters. As Christians we have a responsibility to know what’s not good for us as individuals, but if the song you’re listening to isn’t good for your heart(spirit) the Spirit of Truth will let You know but He can’t choose for you. The Bible says “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23).

You should listen to whatever the Holy spirit leads you to and/or allows you to listen to. HOWEVER, you must ask Him! This includes a lot of junk palmed off as worship in modern churches.

It’s encouraging Jesus told one of the criminals nailed to a cross that recognized who He was that he would be with Him in Heaven. Many of us, and I hope Steve Jobs too, accept Christ as their savior when they realize our souls live after our bodies die. I think Paul gave us the best explanation why so many of us don’t see how amazing Gods love is for us from his letter to the Corinthians; “The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those who are being saved it is the power of God.” In His grace.

The question of where Jobs is today is easily answered. He isn’t anywhere. Because he no longer exists. HE IS DEAD. That’s what DEAD means: you no longer exist. You have ceased to be. You are a memory. The atoms and molecules that made up your body continue on, but you as an individual are done. Period. End of story. No pretending about an afterlife will change that. Your imaginary friend can do nothing, because he doesn’t exist either.

Christianity is a joke. GROW UP!
